Republic Day Celebrations in Delhi: Spectacular Parade Draws Huge Crowd

President Murmu unfurls the national flag as the Republic Day parade begins in Delhi.

The national capital now hosts Republic Day celebrations which display their complete splendor. The day festivities began when President Droupadi Murmu raised the national flag at Kartavyapath which took place at 10:30 am. The Indian armed forces showcased their military capabilities through an impressive parade which displayed different military units.

The parade featured stunning displays which demonstrated Apache helicopters and Prachanda light helicopters as they executed their aerial displays. The traditional parade received a new element when the cavalry unit operated in combat uniforms for their first time. The event also featured a military parade of the European Union, bringing the international touch to the ceremony.

The parade showed India’s development progress together with its various cultural traditions and military strength which included the main weapon systems from Operation Sindoor. The main dignitary guests of the celebrations included European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The event was attended by Indian dignitaries which included Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and multiple Union ministers. A large crowd of spectators assembled to watch the impressive performance.

Indian Astronaut Received the Ashoka Chakra Award

President Droupadi Murmu awarded the Ashoka Chakra to Astronaut Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla who became the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station (ISS). Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, another astronaut who participates in India’s upcoming manned space mission Gaganyaan, received the Kirti Chakra which serves as the country’s second-highest gallantry award.
