Red Fort Blast Live Updates: Amit Shah Chairs Emergency Security Meet After Car Explosion Near Red Fort Kills 9 in Delhi

Rescue teams inspect the mangled remains of a car after a powerful blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, 2025. Nine were killed and 20 injured in the explosion.

Regardless of the explosive strength, the infernal report on Monday evening near Delhi’s Red Fort has left nine dead and 20 injured and has issued a nationwide security alert. The blast near the Red Fort Metro Station at 6:52 PM tore through a parked Hyundai i20 and damaged many vehicles and shops in the busy markets of Old Delhi.

🔴 What Was HappeningDelhi terror attack

The car, a Hyundai i20 (HR26 CE 7674), had been parked near the Red Fort for about three hours before it exploded. The blast was massive, and it burnt many vehicles while the glass from the vehicles above Subhash Marg] sounded a symphony. Forensic teams are currently assessing debris from the blast site.

The UAPA has since been invoked, with initial intelligence supposed to point towards the possibility of terror links. Over 20 fire tenders and NDRF teams were pressed into action, with the area sealed for investigations.

🧩 Terror Link Suspected

Sources indicate the blast may be connected to a terror module recently busted in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir. The car reportedly belonged to Dr. Umar Mohammad, a Pulwama-based doctor believed to be part of a “white-collar” terror network.

Investigators suspect Umar detonated the explosive after his associates — Dr. Mujammil Shakeel and Dr. Adil Rather — were arrested earlier in the day. A massive 2,900 kg of explosives, including 350 kg of ammonium nitrate, was also seized from Faridabad.

🕵️‍♂️ CCTV & Forensic Findings

CCTV footage from Chandni Chowk captured the moment of the explosion, showing crowds fleeing in panic. Officials believe the suspected bomber remained inside the vehicle until the blast occurred.

The Delhi Police have registered a case under Sections 16 and 18 of the UAPA, along with provisions of the Explosives Act, treating the incident as an act of terrorism.

⚠️ Government Response

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has convened a high-level security meeting with senior officials from the NIA, Intelligence Bureau, and Delhi Police. Shah also visited LNJP Hospital, where several victims are being treated, and assured that “top agencies are investigating the incident with full intensity.”

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu expressed condolences, with Muizzu stating, “The Maldives stands in solidarity with India in this difficult time.”

The US Embassy in New Delhi has issued a security advisory urging its citizens to avoid crowded areas.

🚔 Nationwide Security Tightened

Security has been heightened across Delhi, Maharashtra, Jammu, and Himachal Pradesh, especially at religious and tourist sites such as Vaishno Devi, Shirdi, and Shegaon. Vehicle checks, metro station surveillance, and frisking at public places have been intensified.
