Aadhaar Card Update December 2025: UIDAI Introduces New Rules, Check Online & Offline Update Process

Residents update Aadhaar details at a UIDAI Aadhaar Seva Kendra under the new December 2025 guidelines.

Aadhaar has been and continues to be a key identity document in India that is widely accepted for various purposes like government schemes, banking, mobile verification, insurance, education grants, and so on. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced revised guidelines and made the Aadhaar update procedures easier in December 2025 to prevent inaccuracies and keep the card valid.

With the new regulations, the populace is allowed to change not only their demographic information but also their biometric data via the upgraded online platforms and the nation’s vast network of Aadhaar Seva Kendras. The latest approach is characterized by quick processing, increased precision, and lenient documentation needs.

What Is Aadhaar Card Update?

An Aadhaar update is an option for the goers to change their particulars in the UIDAI database. The changes are allowed to the name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email, file, fingerprints, and iris data. To keep the records updated, UIDAI suggests a gap of 10 years between frequent updates of Aadhaar details.

Types of Aadhaar Updates Allowed

As of December 2025, UIDAI permits the following updates:

  • Address change
  • Name correction
  • Mobile number and email ID update
  • Date of birth correction (within prescribed limits)
  • Gender update
  • Photograph update
  • Biometric update (fingerprints and iris scan)
  • Re-submission of supporting documents

Some of these updates can be completed online, while others require visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Details You Can Update Online

Residents with a mobile number linked to Aadhaar can update select demographic details online via OTP verification. These include:

  • Address
  • Name (with valid documents)
  • Date of birth (under limited conditions)
  • Gender
  • Preferred language

Updates Requiring Offline Visit

Certain changes must be completed at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or enrolment centre, such as:

  • Mobile number update
  • Photograph update
  • Biometric update
  • Major corrections to name or date of birth
  • Changes requiring additional verification

Documents Required

Depending on the type of update, residents may need:

  • Aadhaar card or Aadhaar number
  • Proof of identity (PAN card, passport, voter ID, driving licence)
  • Proof of address (utility bills, ration card, rent agreement)
  • Proof of date of birth (birth certificate, school certificate, passport)
All documents must be valid and clearly readable.

Aadhaar Update Charges (December 2025)

UIDAI has prescribed nominal fees for updates:

  • ₹50 for demographic updates
  • ₹100 for biometric updates
  • ₹50 for mobile number update
  • Free document update for eligible users during limited-time UIDAI drives

How to Update Aadhaar Online

The Aadhaar updating process for residents could be done online by going through the official UIDAI site, signing in with Aadhaar number and OTP, choosing the update, uploading docs, paying the fee, and requesting submission. A tracking number is generated and an acknowledgment slip is issued for status checks.

Offline Update Process

To obtain the latest information offline, the people will need to visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra initially, then complete the update form, submit the original documents for verification, provide biometrics if needed, pay the fee and, last of all, carry the acknowledgement slip with them.

Key Points to Remember

The UIDAI has warned its consumers that they should connect their mobile numbers with Aadhaar, use only the official website, not disclose OTPs, verify document eligibility and keep acknowledgment slips for tracking purposes.

Through the introduction of these regulations along with the provision of efficient services, UIDAI aims to deliver to the Indian public a seamless, rapid, and above all safe Aadhaar updating technology.
