The film Battle of Galwan which Salman Khan will direct has been moved to an August 14 2026 release date from its previous April 17 theatrical debut. The new release date aligns with India’s Independence Day weekend, a move expected to amplify the film’s patriotic appeal.
The film which has generated significant buzz since its announcement will now hit cinemas just a day ahead of August 15. The industry sources explain that filmmakers wanted to use the Independence Day period because patriotic feelings among people will be at their highest level during this time which is known for Nationalistic movies to perform well.

Filming Nears Completion
The production team for Battle of Galwan has reached its final production stage. The team started shooting at Mumbai’s Golden Tobacco Factory, which will last for one week beginning on February 9. The team will need only a few days to complete filming because they plan to finish all shooting by February end.
Director Apoorva Lakhia will begin editing work after the last shoot of the film. The post-production procedure will require extensive resources and time since the film needs to undergo Defense Ministry evaluation before its theatrical debut.
No Rush on a Patriotic Project
The sources confirm that the team intentionally chose to delay the project which was not an unexpected development. Salman Khan has reportedly emphasised the importance of giving the film adequate time to reach its full potential.
