The Telangana High Court’s division bench has refused to grant relief to Shine Screen India, the production company of Chiranjeevi’s popular film “Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu”, in its appeal over ticket pricing regulations.
The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice Mohiuddin, stated that the recent interim orders issued by a single judge cannot be interfered with. The bench suggested that the matter should be heard and decided by the single judge directly.
Earlier, Single Judge Justice NV Sravan Kumar had issued a contempt notice to the Special Chief Secretary of the Home Ministry for failing to inform him in advance about any increase in ticket rates for the film. The court also directed that any future increase in ticket prices must be made public 90 days in advance and that objections from the public should be heard before implementation.
Shine Screen India had filed a writ appeal with the division bench seeking to quash the 90-day public notice requirement, but the bench declined to intervene, emphasizing that the single judge is the appropriate authority to hear such matters.
The production company will now have to comply with the existing interim orders regarding transparency in ticket pricing.
