School Holiday on December 31: Big Relief for Students

Students celebrate extended Christmas holidays as several schools declare December 31 a holiday ahead of New Year festivities.

The holiday season for students is about to become even better as schools will be closed on December 31 for another holiday. Christmas holidays had already been officially posted from December 24, but some areas newly imposed have added the last day of the year to the holidays.

The Christmas vacation across the nation will be announced by schools starting from December 24. December 25 (Christmas) and December 26 (Boxing Day) are the federal holidays, and many private educational institutions have, likewise, adapted their calendars.

Christian missionary schools will take a long holiday from December 24 until January 1, which will be the time to celebrate both Christmas and New Year. The enjoyment of the holidays by the other government and private schools will normally just be limited to Christmas and Boxing Day, but a lot of schools are now also proclaiming December 31 as a day off.

Currently, the Telugu states have not made any formal statements about holidays, however, Kerala state has already announced some places to be off days. The Collector’s order has turned the last day of the year into a celebration day for the schools of Sivagiri which are located in the Thiruvananthapuram district, because this day is the end of the Sivagiri Mutt Theerthadanam festival. All the schools in Sivagiri, Chirayinkeezhu, and Varkala taluk will be closed that day.

The Sivagiri festival will take place from December 30 to January 1, and the first day of the year 2023 will mark the beginning of the festivities that will pull the biggest crowd from all over the state to the venue. The authorities have taken this step of closing the schools in the area for the proper crowd management and success of the event.

In all, Christian missionary schools will have approximately 8 days of off days if they include the day, December 31, while other schools will be announcing their vacations in a more localized manner. It is going to be an amazing time for students with the Christmas holiday that lasts from December 25 till 26, and they can enjoy a soothing and relaxing time amidst the festive season.
