Uttar Pradesh School Holidays Extended: Prayagraj Schools Closed Till January 20

Students wait outside a closed school in Prayagraj as authorities extend holidays ahead of Makar Sankranti and Mauni Amavasya.

The district administration has declared an extension of winter break in Prayagraj with all schools shut down till January 20. This resolution is made prior to the major religious occasions of Makar Sankranti and Mauni Amavasya when Sangam becomes the site of holy rites attended by thousands of devotees.

Prayagraj city has a tremendous rise in vehicle and people number at this season of the year, and the roads are frequently congested for this reason. As a precaution, the government has decided to close down all the schools for students from Class 1 to Class 12 during the peak hours when the traffic is at its worst.

Official Order Issued

The closure was approvedby the District Magistrate Manish Kumar Varma, and the directive was issued from the District School Inspector, P. N. Singh. The order applies to:

  • Government Schools
  • Aided Schools
  • Private Schools

No school will be permitted to operate during the holiday period, and the rule will be strictly enforced.

Reopening Date

Therefore, all schools across the district are due to resume regular services on January 21. From students to teachers to all other staffers, no one has been spared in this enforcement.

Reason for Closure

The decision was taken keeping in mind:

  • Heavy crowd at Sangam during festivals
  • Increased traffic and safety risks
  • Possible disruption in school operations due to congestion

Prayagraj district authorities have urged everyone to cooperate with the directive and plan travel accordingly.
