The South Korean actress Won Jin Ah has given the audience a little taste of her character in the long-awaited drama The Judge Returns which is due to start showing on January 2, 2026, at 9:40 p.m. KST.

The drama is based on a well-known web novel and it is the story of a corrupt judge, Lee Han Young (Ji Sung), who travels ten years back in time after being under the thumb of a powerful law firm. With the benefit of the second chance, he goes all out to do justice and exposes the rotten ones.

Won Jin Ah is cast as Kim Jin Ah, a passionate prosecutor working at the Seoul Central District Office whose main objective is to get back at the person who put her father’s life at risk. She is very much aware that her adversaries are much stronger, but still, she remains true to her cause. The pairing of the two leads promises to be an exciting and engaging one as her quest brings her to an unanticipated partnership with Lee Han Young.

In talking about her choice to be part of the production, Won Jin Ah said, “Despite the fact that in real life crimes will be punished only within the limits of the law, the audience in the series will be able to feel the thrill and emotional comfort at the same time. That duality really seduced me.”

Characterizing her role, she went on to say that Kim Jin Ah’s straightforwardness, confrontational approach, and unwavering support are mainly owing to her strong attachment to her father. “I really tried to get the character’s power and grit across,” she said. The turning point in Kim Jin Ah’s life that made her a revenge seeker will also be covered in the drama, along with the part that Lee Han Young plays in her plan.

When asked about the atmosphere on the set and her relationships with Ji Sung and Park Hee Soon, the actress disclosed, “They might look like tough guys in the movies, but they are, in fact, very nice and lovable. Their gentleness was certainly one of the reasons I was eager to come to the set every day.”

She hopes Kim Jin Ah will resonate with viewers: “As someone who represents those who are vulnerable, I want her to bring comfort to people who’ve been hurt by social power and hierarchy.”
