Telangana government has released a holiday calendar for Christmas 2025, which is very nice for school kids, who are already looking forward to taking their holiday break during Christmas. Christmas holidays may not be much of a consolation in December 2023, which is not really a festive month, but they will surely be counted among the days off that will differ depending on the school’s type.

Three-Day Break for Regular Schools

As per the announcement Christmas is a day off for all the government funded regular schools on December 25. Christmas Eve, December 24, is not obligatory, but it will be a holiday along with December 26, Boxing Day. Therefore, regular schools will be closed for three days from December 24 to December 26.

Longer Vacation for Missionary Schools

Schools operated by missionaries will have a long Christmas vacation. These schools would probably cease their activities on the 23rd or 24th of December and remain closed till the 27th of December. Since the 28th of December is a Sunday, students will not go to classes for 5 to 6 days, as those will resume on the 29th of December.

Government Holiday Calendar Announced

In the meantime, the government of Telangana has also made public its official holiday calendar for 2026. The government offices will have a total of 27 general holidays and 26 optional holidays for the next year. Following the announcement, all Sundays and the second Saturday of every month will be holidays.

Staff members of the government will be allowed to take optional leave if previously approved by their department. Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao issued the orders as per the official sources.
