The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached 19 immovable properties worth ₹5.15 crore in a disproportionate assets case against Dacha Janardhan Mahesh, Town Planning Section Officer, GHMC, Secunderabad. The attached assets include plots, shops, flats, and houses owned by him and his family.
The action follows a 2016 FIR lodged by the Anti-Corruption Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act. A June 2022 chargesheet established that Mahesh possessed assets which exceeded his documented earnings by an amount of ₹5.27 crore.
The ED reported that the properties were purchased with funds obtained from criminal activities because most of the transactions were conducted using cash. Cash deposits in Mahesh’s and his family members’ bank accounts were allegedly used to portray the assets as legitimate before being invested in property and personal expenses.
The agency also said the illicit funds were used for the development of Shree Indira Sadan, a construction project executed with the help of his cousin, KB Laxminarayana of M/s Maheshwari Constructions.
