Underwater Bullet Train: Mumbai to Dubai in Just Two Hours!

Deep Blue Express: Experience underwater travel at 1000 km/h with panoramic sea views from Mumbai to Dubai.

An underwater bullet train connecting Mumbai and Dubai is a futuristic transportation project that has already attracted global attention. If the ambitious plan is carried out, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to two hours only, which is a very fast alternative to air travel and a great experience in the sea.

The distance between Mumbai and Dubai is about 1,900 kilometers, which takes approximately three and a half hours by plane at present. However, the proposed high-speed underwater railway line under the Arabian Sea would bring this distance down to the fastest mode of transport with speeds of 600 to 1,000 kmph.

The project titled ‘Deep Blue Express’ has the attention of social media. The underwater tunnel will be one of the major attractions with its panoramic glass windows that will allow the passenger to see the sea creatures like whales, sharks, and colorful fish while being almost 200 meters below sea level. The journey will be similar to one passing through a large natural aquarium.

On top of passenger transport, the project is considered to be a strategic economic corridor. With a projected investment of about $50 billion, the underwater link is expected to make the transfer of crude oil from Dubai to India and vice versa for clean drinking water, thereby enhancing the trade relations between the two nations.

According to experts, the project could deliver multiple benefits:

  • Travel time reduced to just two hours
  • Travel costs potentially lowered by up to 60 percent
  • Creation of nearly 50,000 new jobs
  • Positioning Mumbai as a major international trade hub

It appears that representatives from India and the UAE are conducting initial dialogues to gauge the viability of the project. Although there are still many factors regarding technology, finance, and the environment that need to be sorted out, the professionals are of the opinion that the project would be able to connect those countries with the new transport mode.

The details that are yet to be revealed are the project’s commencement date and its overall budget, nevertheless, they are expected to be disclosed shortly. If the wonderful trip was to take place, then the underground speedy train ride below the Arabian Sea would be the most thrilling travel adventure and might also amaze the planet.
