The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) conducted a major demolition drive in the vicinity of Madhapur, near the Hitex Exhibition Centre, reclaiming government land in an estimated value of Rs 2,200 crore on Thursday.
The operation was located at Khanamet village in Serilingampally Mandal, Rangareddy district, where hundreds of temporary sheds and 30 commercial establishments have been demolished from half of 11 acres of government land. The area reclaimed includes a part of the Mandal of Mondi Kunta and connection empty government land.
The action followed a complaint filed by residents through HYDRAA Prajavani, protesting against extensive encroachments in Survey Nos. 53 (Mondi Kunta) and 55. A detailed inspection of the ground was conducted by teams from HYDRAA, Revenue, and GHMC after directions from HYDRAA Commissioner A. V. Ranganath, confirming violations.
A joint inquiry conducted on January 31 reviewed the land records and satellite images from the National Remote Sensing Centre that were provided to confirm encroachments. One sees one official named in the documents as well. A land which had a lease deed did not make an entry into the document of the state government, and there was an unrecorded fee. MCH issued the notice-less and warned that no more further action should be taken before the boundary filled with trees was finally defined. Later, on April 25, Zone-II along with Circle Assoc. TSI-NW, through the Kukatpalli and Bowenpally circles, now coordinated the city clearing activities under the management of C. Kailash Narayan. In this attempt, on two separate days, they would clear so much of their house.
Expelled families now want to build a new home, which was the main issue in the way of enlarging boundaries that MCH did not want to interfere in. Residents near the name of Modnkunta Franciscan belonged to MCH and had ownership of the tank area since the time of recording. Residents welcomed the decongestive drive and banded a request-the authority should develop parks and beautify them while leaving Mondi Kunta in its present state so that encroachments could be prevented.
